2010 Convention Update for Women’s Program

On Friday afternoon during Convention 2010, the women may choose to visit one of three uniquely-San Diego options. Ladies will be asked to make their selection during the check-in process on Thursday, July 15 so that adequate transportation will be available for each location.
• Seaport Village — This 14-acre waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment complex recreates a harborside setting from a century ago. In addition to 54 one-of-a-kind shops are four miles of meandering cobblestone pathways bordered by ponds, lakes, fountains and colorful, lush landscaping. There is also a quarter-mile boardwalk along the San Diego Bay.

• Old Town San Diego State Park gives visitors a glimpse into yesteryear, as converging cultures transformed San Diego from a Mexican pueblo to an American settlement. Nearby Old Town provides shopping and restaurants.

• Mission San Diego de Alcala — San Diego de Alcala, the first of the great California missions was founded on July 16, 1769 by Franciscan Friar, Father Junipero Serra. It is California’s first church. This remarkable and significant historical shrine provides an understanding and appreciation of the beginning of Catholicism in this corner of the world (entrance fee is $3.00 for adults and $2.00 for seniors).
