The cadets of Greater Edmonton celebrate Remembrance Day (November 11, 2015) with the veterans and active service members of the Canadian Forces, police, and other civilian organizations. This national day of remembrance recognizes the sacrifices made by our service men and women for the freedom we enjoy. The cadets participated in a march past, and presented a wreath of remembrance in front of Television cameras and an assembled crowd of approximately 5500 people. This is the third time the cadets have participated in this annual event. After standing still for the 1.5 hour ceremony (plus a couple hours of preparation), they celebrated with a Pizza party at West End CRC! Well done boys! Looking good! On June 12 and 13 The host committee for the 2017 International Camporee had work days at the Camporee Site in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The initial work was to clear brush from the color areas and cut some timber for firewood. A Skid-Steer was brought in to pile the brush that will be burned this winter. Any sizable timber was cut up for firewood and stacked between trees. The host committee is making sure they are ready for camporee 2017 — are you preparing? Never too early to start your fundraising to make sure every boy that wants to be there — is there. And don’t forget your camporee certification training. The longer you practice the knots and lashing and cooking the more confident your boys will be at camp and the more confident they are, the more they will enjoy the experience.
Flying over the color areas where the work crews are busy making sure the camporee site is ready for YOU!
Illiana Council is working with a local Christian radio station to promote Cadeting. Here is a sample of their radio ad.
