Why Camporee Is More Than Just a Week in the Outdoors
And why you should think about attending
Not Just Another Trip
Is the Cadet International Camporee just another camping trip? Ask anyone who has been there, and they will tell you it is something far deeper. Yes, there are shelters beneath the sky, campfires that crackle into the evening, and the sounds of laughter and songs rising through the trees. But what makes the Cadet International Camporee truly unforgettable is not the scenery. It is the way God works in the hearts of boys and men who gather there.

Outdoor Adventure
At first glance, Camporee looks like the ultimate outdoor adventure. Cadets hike, cook, take part in games and challenges, and practice the outdoor skills they have learned. They spend their days outdoors and their nights under the stars. For many, it is a dream come true. The friendships formed around a campfire and the sense of accomplishment that comes from teamwork are worth every bit of the effort to get there.

More than what you see
But Camporee is more than what we see in the camp. Something deeper happens when hundreds of Cadets and counselors set aside their routines and spend a week focused on faith, fellowship, and growth. The distractions of daily life fade, and space opens up for reflection, prayer, and renewal. Counselors and boys talk about faith in ways they never have before. Worship echoes across the camp as voices join together to praise God. Bonds grow stronger. Lives are changed.

For the Counselors
Many counselors find that while they came to lead, God used Camporee to renew their own hearts. Away from the pressures of home and work, they rediscover the joy of mentoring, the strength of community, and the excitement of watching young men grow in their faith. Camporee reminds every counselor that what they do in their local club matters. It is not just about teaching skills; it is about shaping lives.

Lasting Impact
And the impact lasts far beyond that week. Boys return home with deeper confidence in God’s care and a sense of belonging to something bigger than themselves. Counselors come back inspired, recharged, and ready to continue their ministry. The theme for Kamp Longview, “Mountains of Blessing,” captures this well. Just as the mountains surround us in Alberta, God surrounds His people with steadfast love and protection, as Psalm 125:2 reminds us.

Prepare for More
Camporee is not just a week in the great outdoors. It is a week where God moves mountains in the hearts of boys and men. If you are a counselor, start preparing now. Pray about who you will bring, how you will get there, and what God might do through you. Registration opens January 5, 2026. Do not miss the chance to experience the blessings that await at Kamp Longview.
