Servant Leader – Holden De Vries

Holden De Vries joined the Pella Faith CRC Cadet Club as a fourth grader in 2014. Even at this early age, he displayed a work ethic that you don’t see in boys that age very often. Throughout his years in the Cadet ministry, Holden has grown into a hardworking, servant-hearted young man. He is always the first to arrive and the last to leave. Whenever there is a task to be done, he is the first to volunteer. Holden has attended the Midwest Regional Camporee and the 2017 International Camporee in South Dakota. He has served as club president and has earned the black star award. He has earned every Cadet rank from Recruit to Advanced Guide. This year Holden took on the challenge of overseeing the Hawkeye Council Bowling Tournament.

Holden’s influence goes far beyond Cadeting. In his school he is a leader in his Discipleship group, he is on the Lego League team, and was the stage manager for the eighth-grade play. Holden spent many hours volunteering his time helping with different tasks in Pella Christian Grade School’s expansion project last summer. In 2016 Holden went on a work trip to Joplin, MO with Lake View Camp. On this trip, Holden and the others with him showed God’s love to others by helping clean up from the tornado that ravaged the community. In his free time, Holden has started his own grounds keeping and snow removal business.

It is evident that Holden loves Cadets, it is clear that Holden loves serving others, and it is obvious that Holden loves Jesus. Holden has stood before his church family and publicly professed his love for Jesus. Holden lives Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not human masters.”
